Ritual Va'ad
Ritual Va'ad
PURPOSE:
The Ritual Va’ad at CBH advises the Senior Rabbi and Music Director as they work to create and support ritual and spiritual programming for the CBH community. Members of the Va’ad serve as liaisons to lay leadership of regular programming, life cycle rituals, and holidays across the Jewish calendar. They seek feedback from members of the congregation and community, and they explore growth areas for enriching spiritual life at CBH. They help to communicate opportunities for participation in planning and lay leadership to people across the community. They also help to assess potential partnerships with related organizations for ritual programming.
VISION:
The Ritual Va’ad nurtures CBH’s sacred center. We are memory-keepers and holders of collective wisdom. We know and share minhag where it exists and offer guidance in response to change. We value Jewish tradition, and we value creativity. We connect to the community and to the Divine. We integrate spiritual practices with origins outside of Judaism and share them through a Jewish lens. We honor Jewish text as well as Judaism as an evolving civilization. We seek meaning and beauty in our spiritual practices. We mark time through parshah, through prayer, and through musical and artistic expression. We appreciate the ability of ritual to center us when life feels chaotic and to inspire us when life feels routine. We reach across generations. We work to ensure that ritual life at CBH continues to thrive.
COMMITMENT:
Members commit to serve for at least one year, to participate regularly in ritual life, including services, at CBH and to follow through on volunteer tasks that they have taken on.
