One of the ways I approach my time at High Holy Days is by using the messages, the liturgy and the teachings guide me in setting my course for the next year. Of course, our tradition instills the message of great humility in our prayers so that we are also aware that we encounter forces much larger than ourselves. With this email, we are providing you with all the information to set your course for a great High Holy Day experience at CBH and a personal way to set your course.

You will find many practical ways to prepare for the High Holy Days with the times and different services and opportunities, ways to participate and volunteer, and sign ups for child care and oneg.

Also, there's an opportunity to do your own personal preparation by considering a Cheshbon HaNefesh, A Soul Accounting. This was a suggested practice by Mussar teachers as a way to explore our past year and set aside some time to check in with ourselves in a gentle and loving way around our growth and our challenges. Throughout the month of Elul, I am providing topics and areas to guide your process. This week's theme is Love of Self and today's area is looking at how we set boundaries as a way of self care. I share with you the story of The Easter Ham as a funny yet serious story of how sometimes we say yes, when clearly we should say no. You can find this video here: The Rabbi and The Easter Ham
