This Sunday, the month of Elul begins, the Jewish month that precedes Rosh Hashanah. Encouraged by teachings from Mussar, Jews of all kinds see this month as an opportunity to do some soul assessment. This process is called Cheshbon HaNefesh, literally The Soul Accounting. Given that we can have baggage with self judgment and assessment, I wanted to offer an approach that guides us to see this as a loving and gentle process and also with integrity so we can arrive at the High Holy Days clear and ready.
