In challenging times, how can we stay connected to our center so we respond rather than react? Join us for our second Middot in Movement series, as we nourish the qualities of Truth, Faith, and Loving-Kindness within ourselves. We will explore these three qualities through Mussar teachings, yoga, meditation, and simple practices to take home.
Bring a yoga mat or towel, water, open heart and curious mind. Seasoned Mussar practitioners and beginners are all welcome.
Thursday March 23: Truth/Emet
What is your truth? Is telling the truth always the right thing to do? How can we feel the groundedness of truth amidst today’s political climate? We’ll explore the Mussar perspective on truth and lies, and what a “truth practice” would look like in our lives.
Thursday March 30: Faith/Emunah
"A fully resolved faith is a dead faith, since the facts of life challenge faith at every turn. Our understanding, like all our inner qualities, is meant to grow.” –Alan Morinis In this class we’ll creatively explore practices for understanding and growing our personal and collective faith.
Thursday April 6: Loving-kindness/Chesed
“Only some problems have solutions, while all of them are alleviated by the loving response of those around us.”-Alan Morinis
This middah commands us to offer radical loving-kindness towards ourselves and others. We’ll cultivate our capacity for offering chesed and leave with tools to carry our loving energy out into the world.
