CBH Green Team Presents:
Shabbat Blessings on the Climate

We will host meteorologist Mark Papier with his "State of the climate: it's simple, it's serious, it's solvable, it's shalom.” Mark’s d’var will uplift and move you, joining the facts about climate with the spirit embodied in the four Hebrew letters of “shalom.” Bill Witherspoon as service leader will weave in the fable of Balaam’s Ass, in which a would-be curse turns into the Ma Tovu blessing, familiar to many from morning services.

Mark’s face is familiar to viewers of The Weather Channel, where he was an award-winning Storm Specialist for two decades. Mark speaks to audiences ranging from schoolkids to devotees of NPR’s Here and Now. He now works for AT&T, forecasting weather and climate risks to its assets. He is a founding member of the board of Jewish Climate Action Network – Georgia. Mark is the organizer of the American Meteorological Society’s Financial Weather/Climate Justice Initiative. In his leisure time, Mark enjoys running races that end at craft breweries.
