Rabbi Josh will offer an overview of progressive Jewish medical ethics through text study and conversation. 

It is customary for some to dedicate a teaching in memory of a loved one around their yahrtzeit (anniversary of a death). As Rabbi Josh observes the 1st yahrtzeit of his father Dr. Laurence Lesser z"l, he has chosen to prepare a discussion on medical ethics. After an Orthodox presentation on the ethics of end of life issues, he was challenged by the approach finding it rigid and incompatible with some of his ethics. Turning to Rabbi Josh, he sought a fuller understanding and a progressive understanding of this issue and other areas of Jewish medical ethics. He then taught what he had learned to his congregation and other faith communities.
