Labor on the Bimah: Shabbat Shuvah

Congregation Bet Haverim will join more than 500 congregations across the country in honoring workers and lifting up worker struggles. The service is part of the annual Labor in the Pulpits/on the Bimah/in the Minbar program hosted by national worker rights organization, Interfaith Worker Justice, and its network of affiliates. Presentations will celebrate the ever-growing relationship between religion and labor and their efforts to not only uplift the efforts of past labor leaders and workers, but also to educate people shine light on the oppressive working conditions and poverty wages millions of workers are forced to endure, educate workers’ about their rights in the workplace, give life to living wage ordinances throughout the country, highlight anti-wage theft efforts, and a host of other initiatives that honor and respect the innate dignity of all workers.

Join us for this special shabbat service where we aim to demonstrate the ways in which religious communities, unions and worker advocates can work together to achieve social and economic justice, and reflect on the shared values between faith communities and the labor movement.
