Yizkor Memorial Book

The High Holidays are a time of memory and reflection, renewal and celebration. Yizkor is our service to remember the sweet souls that we have lost, individually and as a CBH Community. It’s customary to recite Yizkor four times a year: Yom Kippur, Shemini Atzeret (which is at the end of Sukkot), the last day of Pesach (Passover), and Shavuot. Many of the Torah readings on these days mention the importance of tzedakah, assistance to those in need. In gratitude for the gift of the lives of our close family members and friends, it is customary to donate tzedakah in their memory - carrying on their names in this world.

Congregation Bet Haverim compiles a Yizkor Memorial booklet containing the names of our community’s loved ones who have passed away. During the Yizkor Service on Yom Kippur afternoon, these names will be read from the bimah as a memorial to the blessing of each life. We hope you will include the names of your loved ones. We ask for an $18 donation for each name listed in the booklet. (As with all aspects of communal practice at CBH, the ability to pay fees or donations is never a basis to exclude anyone from full participation in our community.) These donations will appear on your CBH account. If you would like to make alternate arrangements, please contact  Anquenetta at admin@cbhatlanta.org.

To include names in our Yizkor booklet, please fill out the form below no later than Monday, August 28, 2023. This date is firm so that we have adequate time to compile and produce this special booklet. If you have any difficulty with the online form, please email Cara at clergyassistant@cbhatlanta.org, with the names you would like listed in the book and who they are remembered by, and she will ensure their inclusion.

Names received after August 28 will be read from the bimah, but not included in the booklet.

Please be sure to include pronunciation of names that readers might find unfamiliar. Thank you.

This form is not active.
