Musical Kabalat Shabbat - Guest Artist Series!
Music Director Rebekka Goldsmith welcomes Rabbi Jessica Kate Meyer (Director of Prayer Leadership Training and Artist-in-Residence at Hebrew College), Shira Kline (co-founder and spiritual leader of Lab Shul), and Gayanne Geurin (CBH’s beloved former Music Director), for an unforgettable soul-stirring, heart opening, and spirit-filled musical Shabbat. Register early, We anticipate this Shabbat service to reach maximum capacity.

Shira Kline (she, her) is a queer performance and ritual artist, recognized as a revolutionary educator and named one of the new re-engineers of Jewish life today. Co-founder of Storahtelling and Lab/Shul, she serves as Spiritual Leader weaving liturgy, text, story and song. Known in the sanctuary as a spiritual adventurist and on the kiddie rock stage as ShirLaLa, Shira practices in the field of sacred play. She tours extensively locally and globally with a vibrant invitation to connect, for a new and realized conscious world. a frequent guest teacher or faculty of numerous international leadership conferences including Hava NaShira, SLBC, PJ Library, HUC-JIR Seminary and Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music. Expansive and imaginative, Shira is here to nourish and ignite expression of the spirit. At home in Brooklyn, unceded Lenape lands, she lives to cook, dance, and play with her beloved and their daughter.
Gayanne Geurin (she, her) is currently focused on vocal coaching and healing work in both individual and retreat settings. She was music director at CBH for 18 years. Her experiences as a spiritual leader, music director, singer and psychotherapist along with her skills in vocal function and improvisational exploration offers a unique and diverse toolkit for guiding folks in their journey with their voice. She came to claim her own singing voice through a long stop and start journey mixed with fear, spiritual cultivation and expansive possibility. She is forever grateful that CBH was the cornerstone for where and how she reclaimed her voice.
Prayer leader, storyteller, vocalist, and rabbi, Jessica Kate Meyer (she, her) is the Rosh Tefillah (Director of Prayer Leadership Training) and Artist-in-Residence at Hebrew College. Previously, she served as rabbi-hazzan at Romemu in NYC, and at The Kitchen in San Francisco. She has studied sacred Jewish music with masters from Ashkenazi and Mizrahi traditions, and has performed as a vocalist with ensembles in the US and Israel. Outside of the pulpit, Jessica has worked for Encounter in Jerusalem, and FASPE (fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics). In a previous life, Jessica appeared in film, theater, and television projects in Europe and the United States: most notably, as a principal role in the Oscar-winning film, The Pianist.
