7:00 PM - 8:30 PMvia ZoomWhen will I die? Encountering the Unentaneh Tokef: Facing death and living more fully
….when death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could. - Louise Erdrich
The Unentaneh Tokef is a central piyyut (poem) that has been part of the high holy day liturgy for centuries. We will glance at historical context for reference and look at alternative modern interpretations. Mostly we will utilize its potency to wrestle with what is at the core of this composition: facing our mortality and guidance for a more meaningful life. RSVP for this event here.
