The bite-sized program includes Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, a soulful cello showpiece starring Aria (hot off her second performance degree at the Royal Academy in London), a folksy East European rhapsody, a couple of favorite old tangos and more. Arranger David Borthwick emcees.

Benjamin Borthwick, cello, is the third cellist to play in the CBH Strings, following the glorious reigns of Ruth and Aria. He just finished earning two degrees in four years from Georgia Tech in computer science. If you know of any entry-level job openings, please reach out!
Julia Borthwick, viola, started life as a violinist, but her string voice got lower in her teens. Julia graduated from Emory with a psychology major and Korean minor. She now works as a research coordinator at an Emory psychology lab that studies computational mechanisms of anxiety.

Ruth Einstein, cello, joined CBH waaay back in the early 90s. She was the founding cellist of the CBH Strings, 2010–2015, until she and wife Marian Broida moved to Minnesota. These days she plays in the Mankato Symphony, acts as archivist for the county historical society, and teaches cello to kids and adults.
Aria Posner, cello, was principal cellist of the Atlanta Youth Symphony and Georgia’s All-State Orchestra during high school—as well the CBH Strings (2015–19). She revisits us fresh off performance degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music (2023) and the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London (2025).
Ben Reiss, violin, an Emory English professor, has written about sleepwalking prophets, hibernating peasants, mad poets, and other human curiosities. Violin has been part of his life since age 6, with occasional semi-amicable separations. Ben and Sarah attended the same music camp in 1980 before meeting again at CBH.
Will Robertson, double bass, wears many hats at CBH (chorus director, band director, album producer, singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, etc.). For the string ensemble, he plays the instrument he majored in at Rice. Will is a Grammy-nominated music producer with his own studio.
Sarah Zaslaw, violin, started lessons at four and has always preferred playing with others to practicing on her own. She makes her living producing and hosting classical radio shows on GPB statewide. A CBHer for two decades, she is a loyal member of its chorus, band, and strings.
