“How does the bed of a Torah scholar look?” the Talmud asks in Bava Basra (58a). “Any bed that has nothing stored beneath it except sandals during the summer season and shoes during the rainy season.” By contrast, what do we find under the bed of an unlearned person? It is “like a jumbled storeroom.”

The New Year is a great time to examine not only matters of the heart, but also what's inside your closets and drawers, and under your bed, and get rid of what you don't need or want or, dare it be suggested, what does not bring you joy. But don't just take them to a thrift store. Bring them to the CBH clothing swap, Tuesday, October 29th, 7p-9p. Bring something vegetarian to share to nosh on, as well as clothing and other items you're ready to part with. Any extras will be contributed to "Second Life" Thrift Store.
