Join clinical social worker Nancy Kriseman, for a three-week Wednesday evening Zoom workshop designed to help participants understand grief and develop compassionate tools for navigating it. Grief affects us emotionally, physically, and spiritually—often in ways we don’t expect. With more than 35 years of experience supporting individuals and families through loss, Nancy offers a way to understand the many dimensions of grief and the grieving process. This workshop is open to anyone experiencing grief—recent or long-term.
- The first session will focus on The Journey of Grief which will include; dispelling the myths of the five stages of grief, recognizing your own grief style and how family members styles may be different, the process of grief and the various types of grief losses, death loss, loss of a relationship, loss of a job, and physical body loss.
- The second session will focus on Unhealthy Grieving and how it can get in the way of processing grief, such as; disenfranchised grief, complicated grief, examples can include suicide or homicide loss, out of order death such as child loss, and sudden unexpected death and even expected death. We will talk about what to say and not say to people who have experienced these types of losses.Healthy Grieving will be shared as well.
- The last session will focus on The Long Arc of Grieving Grieving can last more than a year. The intense aspects lessen but grief can come and waves and can be reactivated and retriggered when you least expect it. How to find meaning in loss; and learn how to develop ritual's of remembering can be very helpful.
