CALL FOR ORIGINAL ART  - Freedom Imagined/Passover Theme

This year at CBH, we would like to practice hiddur mitzvah - the beautification of a mitzvah - at our Passover seder by displaying visual art that highlights freedom or other Passover themes.

We are seeking art made by CBHers and our community that is inspired by Passover and Passover themes.

Ideas - visual journal/sketchbook, photographs, altered book, re-imagined Haggadah pages, Passover board game, painting, drawing, graffiti, etc.

Some items may be photographed and used for visual art in the CBH Seder following next year, with permission from the artist.

DIRECTIONS:

  • Items must be submitted in person at CBH by April 10 so they may be displayed for Passover.

  • Please provide a label for your art on an index card which will be displayed:

    • first and last name,

    • age of artist (if under 18 years old),

    • media used (watercolor, paper, fabric)

    • title of work, and description (optional)

    • phone and email on back of card (so it is not on display)

  • For professional artists, if the item is for sale, you may also suggest a price.

  • Two dimensional art should be framed or on a hard surface such as foam board so it can stand up.

  • Three dimensional works should be small enough to put on a shelf or window sill. Larger works may be difficult to display.

  • Works do not need to be new. If you have something made before this year that fits the theme it can be submitted.

  • If a class wishes to submit a class project, please group items together (on poster board perhaps) so they can be displayed as a group.

  • To submit your work, please sign up on this form (on website to be made). We have a limited number of spaces available for display. Space is limited so sign up early.

  • All items should be picked up by April 28.

Please include information about the work, inspiration, the artist, the media used, etc.

Artist retains al copyrights. CBH would like to use works to market future Passover events and in future CBH Haggadas.
